Finding a path to get started in a career can feel like a daunting task. Fortunately there are resources available regardless if if you a student just entering higher education or someone with several years of experience returning to continue their education.
What are those resources? How can they be accessed? What provides valuable experience? What kinds of things should someone focus on?
On this week’s episode of 33 Tangents, Jason and Jim welcome for the first time Ashlee Marshall and returning guest Stephen Marshall to discuss the resources available to those in higher education and their approaches to preparing their students for their careers.
Ashlee Marshall is a university Lecturer with a sales and marketing background. Currently, she teaches in the Communication Department for the University of Louisville. In addition to teaching, she is also the Education Project Manager for the Brand Storytelling Network (BSN). She is responsible for supporting all certification course content as well as all BSN library insights, case studies, and interviews.
Stephen Marshall, Ph.D. is an award-winning media professor, (digital) marketer/brand consultant, and higher education administrator. Stephen’s consulting brand portfolio includes work for Siren Marine/Yamaha, Adobe, Nielsen, Coca-Cola, Texas Pete, BoxDrop, Tennessee Hills Distillery, and various other for-profits and nonprofits. A former academic department chair, Stephen is currently the CMO for the ETSU Research Corporation focused on building academic/industry partnerships.
