As part of efforts to lessen the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak, everyone is working from home right now but it’s not your typical work from home situation. The rest of the family is also home. Some people have children trying to do remote learning. There are many different situations and people have been asked to adjust and find a family and work balance on the fly.
This is not easy and it’s definitely wearing on people. How can you stay sane during this trying time? How can you prevent the frustration from getting the best of you?
On this week’s episode of 33 Tangents, Jim, Jason, and Bryant discuss how their situation has changed over the last month and a half and what they’re doing for their physical and mental health.
Items we mentioned:
• RailCowGirl (Videos from Norway’s Bergen Train Line)
• Strictoaster (CitySkylines)
• post 10 (drain cleanings)
• Doctor Mix

33 Tangents - Episode #103 - Office Bullies
Friday Apr 17, 2020
Friday Apr 17, 2020
Every office has one and we’ve all dealt with them, the office bully. This person demands their items always be addressed first. They demand, they force, they demean, they throw temper tantrums. They’re the first to go to your boss, or your boss’s boss, or higher, to get what they want.
How do you deal with an office bully? Are they using this approach to overcompensate or hide something? Why does it feel like this kind of behavior is tolerated?
On this week’s episode of 33 Tangents, Jason, Jim, and Bryant discuss their experience with office bullies and what they did to deal with them.

33 Tangents - Episode #94 - Cliches & Business Speak
Friday Feb 14, 2020
Friday Feb 14, 2020
Business cliches are a dime a dozen. (see what I did there?)
Some say that phrases become cliches for a reason and they help convey deep details in a concise amount of words, but they can also be worn out so as not to have any meaning at all. While cliches can be helpful, they can also mask direct speech with a bunch of round-a-bout words.
On this week’s episode of the #33Tangents podcast, Jim and Bryant talk about some of the best & worst cliches they’ve ever heard, the cliches they over-use, and their thoughts on “business speak”.
What do you think are the worst cliches and business speak in current use?

33 Tangents - Episode #91 - Be The Wolf
Friday Jan 24, 2020
Friday Jan 24, 2020
One of the phrases we use internally at 33 Sticks is “Be the Wolf”, which is a reference to the character of Winston Wolfe, played by Harvey Keitel, in Pulp Fiction. When this phase is used, it refers to direct, honest, and genuine client relationships.
This week, Jason, Hila, and Jim talk in detail about what it actually means to “Be the Wolf”. How did that reference originate? How does a client benefit from that approach?

33 Tangents - Episode #90 - How Wildfires Spread
Friday Jan 17, 2020
Friday Jan 17, 2020
Forest fires are horrible and tragic and Jason has first hand experience dealing with them in Utah about a year and a half ago. During that ordeal, he spent a lot of time learning about how they spread and how they are fought. What he found out was that the common understanding of both are wrong. In today’s episode, Jim and Jason dig into those learnings and the parallels that can be drawn with several aspects of life.
